Event description

Description

Cyfle i fwynhau diwrnod cyfan yn sied wyna fferm Llwyn-yr-eos.

Gyda chymorth craff y tîm wyna, byddwch chi’n dysgu sut i ofalu am ddefaid beichiog, adnabod arwyddion esgor a delio â phroblemau cyffredin. Bydd genedigaeth yn ystod y dydd yn gyfle i dorchi llewys os ydych chi’n teimlo’n hyderus! Cewch dreulio amser yn y feithrinfa gyda’r defaid, yn helpu i asesu anghenion a lles yr ŵyn yn eu dyddiau cyntaf, ond bydd amserlen y diwrnod yn hyblyg, yn dibynnu ar brysurdeb y sied wyna.

Cwrs addas i ddechreuwyr llwyr – does dim angen profiad blaenorol o drin defaid.

Mae tri lle ar gael bob diwrnod. Darllenwch y canllawiau isod cyn archebu.

Canllawiau:

  • Dylai unrhyw berson beichiog, sydd â phartner beichiog, neu sy’n ceisio am blentyn ddarllen y canllawiau canlynol gan y GIG (Saesneg yn unig).
  • Mae’r cwrs yn anaddas i bobl â phroblemau symudedd oherwydd amodau’r sied wyna. Os oes gennych bryderon, cysylltwch cyn archebu drwy e-bostio stfagansevents@amgueddfacymru.ac.uk
  • Mae’r dyddiadau wedi’u trefnu i gynnig y cyfle gorau i weld genedigaeth, ond mae wyna yn fusnes anodd ei ragweld ac allwn ni addo dim.
  • Byddwch yn barod i wisgo hen ddillad a throchi – rydyn ni’n argymell gwisgo trowsus gwrth-ddŵr (gallwn ni addo y byddwch chi’n penlinio mewn dom!)
  • Mae prisiau yn cynnwys parcio – wedi cyrraedd, ewch at y porthdy diogelwch i gyfarfod eich tiwtor, fydd yn darparu tocyn parcio.
  • Darperir lluniaeth ysgafn. Mae croeso i chi ddod â bocs bwyd hefyd neu fynd i un o’r bwytai ar y safle.
  • Os ydych chi am dorchi llewys gofynnwn i chi dorri eich ewinedd a thynnu unrhyw farnais a modrwyau. Ein blaenoriaeth yn hyn o beth yw diogelwch y defaid.
  • Bydd digwyddiadau’r sied wyna yn cael eu ffrydio’n fyw ar wefan yr Amgueddfa fel rhan o broject #sgrinwyna. Wrth reswm, bydd unrhyw un sy’n mynychu yn ymddangos (er mai’r defaid yw sêr y sioe). Wrth archebu lle rydym yn cymryd eich bod yn rhoi caniatâd ymlaen llaw i gael eich ffilmio – bydd yn rhaid i chi lofnodi ffurflen ganiatâd ffilmio a ffotograffiaeth ar y diwrnod.

Addasrwydd: 16+

A chance to experience the magic of a full day in the Museum's lambing shed at Llwyn-yr-eos Farm.

Under the expert guidance of our farming team, you’ll learn how to care for pregnant sheep, recognise labour and deal with common problems. If births happen during the day, there’ll be a chance to get really hands-on (if you want to!). There’ll also be time in the nursery with our new mums and babies – you’ll learn to assess welfare needs and help the lambs through those vital first few days of life. The schedule of the day will be flexible around what’s happening in the lambing shed at the time.

This course is suitable for complete beginners – no previous stock handling experience required. There will be three places available to book on each day. Please read the guidance notes below before making a booking.

Suitability: 16+

Guidance Notes:

  • Anyone who is pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or has a partner who is expecting, should read the following health guidelines from the NHS
  • This course unsuitable for those with mobility issues due to the nature of conditions in the lambing shed. Please contact us before booking to discuss any concerns via email to stfagansevents@musemwales.ac.uk
  • We have scheduled these dates to give you the best chance of witnessing a birth, but lambing is an unpredictable business and we cannot guarantee it.
  • You will need to be happy to wear old clothes and get dirty – we recommend overtrousers. (Kneeling in sheep poo is virtually guaranteed!)
  • Price includes parking – please report to security gatelodge on arrival to meet your tutor who will supply you with a car park pass.
  • Light refreshments will be provided. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit our on-site catering facilities.
  • Events from the lambing shed will be broadcast live on the Museum's website as part of #Lambcam. As a result, anyone attending this course will be likely to appear (although the sheep are the stars of the show). By purchasing a ticket, you have provided prior permission to be filmed. You will be required to sign a photography and filming release form on the day.
