Description

Invitation to Local Resilience Forum Cyber Exercise

Date: Thursday 30 November 2017

Time: 09.30hrs to 15.45hrs (registration from 09.00hrs)

Venue: Lord Knights Suite, Tally Ho, Pershore Road, Birmingham, B5 7RN

Format

Tabletop, exercise scenario is a cyber-incident requiring a multi-agency response with injects delivered throughout the day. An expert panel will deliver observations and provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions and discuss key issues.

Our target audience is primarily strategic, tactical and operational responders, plus communications and IT specialists.

Places are initially limited to eight per organisation to allow relatively equal representation from all Local Resilience Forum partners. Dependent on interest and registrations received more spaces may be released in due course.

Aim

Contribute to the development of a cyber resilience strategy within West Midlands Conurbation Local Resilience Forum, to enable an appropriate, cohesive and effective response to cyber emergencies within the West Midlands Conurbation.

Objectives

  • Gain a better understanding of the threats to digital communications, data, systems and technologies, together with implications for Cat 1 and 2 responders

  • Contribute to developing a cyber ‘Defend’ framework within the LRF

  • Develop a working strategy for the initial response (‘Golden 20-minutes’)

  • Consider the effectiveness of current cyber resilience arrangements (including policy, procedures and legislation)

  • Work to deliver an effective integrated response from the short to the long term

  • Gain a better understanding of the potential depth and breadth of the impact together with subsequent implications

  • Identify additional steps to provide future mitigation against cyber threats
