About this event

  • 1 hour 15 minutes

The number of schools identifying cyber security breaches or attacks is rising.

Tailored to meet the needs of education professionals and designed to be easy to be easy to access with no technical knowledge, this course is suitable for all school staff. Educate your staff in identifying cyber threats and how to mitigate them, no matter their role in school - they all play a part.

Improving cyber resilience will reduce the impact of cyber attacks and breaches, and increase the ability of your school to deliver education continuously, and to carry out school business effectively in the event of a cyber incident.

This cyber awareness course is designed to form part of a culture change from the acceptance of inevitable cyber threat to a proactive and responsive staff, empowered to protect your school.

The training covers the importance of cyber security in an education setting, how attacks might happen including the most common types of cyber attack, and covers key areas with simple security measures that staff can take to mitigate risk.

By the end of the course staff should be able to:

• Understand what a cyber incident is

• Recognise the areas of highest risk and learn how to reduce them

• Understand what to do if they are concerned or notice a potential threat

Education Data Hub staff all come from schools backgrounds, so this training is designed with the busy schedules of school staff in mind, and includes various start-times throughout the day - we know that convenience is key. Evening sessions are also included to appeal to governors and staff who are simply unable to make time during the day.

83% of schools have experienced a cyber incident*, yet only 41% have a business continuity plan, 4% have no backup and 61% had not tested or verified their backup. Despite these figures, 100% recognised that their school could not function or safeguard pupils effectively without crucial operational systems.
