Event Details

Discussing response to cyber security, data protection and system security.

This Cyber Security Event brings together 100+ local businesses, hardware providers, software solutions and cyber security experts to examine how to implement a business response to risk reduction, system resilience and business continuity strategy.

The half day event includes four seminars covering software and hardware solutions, system protection expertise and compliance. The atrium will also have display stands from many prominent security experts and solutions providing demonstrations and advice.

Buffet breakfast and lunch will also be provided free of charge.

8.30 – 9.15 am          Registration and breakfast

9.15 – 9.30 am          Welcome – Amanda Johnson, DSM Group

9.30 – 10.00 am        Cyber Security- The basics. Joseph Cooksey Digital Engagement manager, Barclays.

Covering current threats such as social engineering, impersonation fraud and password strength and steps that you can take to mitigate business risk.

10.00 – 10.30 am      GDPR without the jargon! Mark Povey, Jack Simons.

This new regulation comes into force on the 25th May 2018. All businesses should have a plan for their GDPR journey. But please remember the first statement we give to all organisations is “don’t panic” – you can’t do nothing but we’ll help you work through the jargon to become compliant.

10.30– 11.00 am       Coffee and networking

11.00 – 11.30 am       Real-time Threat Detection and Response – WatchGuard.

Hackers are designing malware to be more sophisticated than ever. Through packing, encryption, and polymorphism, cyber criminals are able to disguise their attacks to avoid detection. Zero day threats and advanced malware easily slip by antivirus solutions that are simply too slow to respond to the constant stream of emerging threats. Organisations of all sizes need a solution that leverages a holistic approach to security from the network to the endpoint. WatchGuard Threat Detection and Response (TDR) is a powerful collection of advanced malware defense tools that correlate threat indicators from Fireboxes and Host Sensors to block known, unknown and evasive malware threats.

11.30 – 12.00 am       Cyber Security in an ever changing world – Kaspersky.
When a breach occurs, every second counts – and costs. But few companies have a handle on the ROI for their cyber security efforts. How can you find the value? What if weighing up the different payoffs could help your organization focus on the cyber security solutions that best fit – and, in the process, derive the best possible bang for their buck?

12:00 am – 12:30 pm  Question Time

Due to popular demand this slot will be taken up with a range of Cyber Security questions put to the speakers with discussion opened up to the floor for all delegates to contribute.

12:30 pm onwards     Buffet lunch, Facility tour, supplier exhibition, networking

13:00 Optional workshop:

Live Hack!!

This session includes a demonstration of the vulnerabilities within systems that can lead to your personal and corporate data being compromised.  It will provide practical advice and logical methods for maintaining security.

DSM Group

DSM was established in 1987 to provide IT solutions to local organisations and over the years we have developed a reputation as a reliable supplier of IT services to the business community.  Our portfolio of skills has steadily increased over the years in response to customer requirements and the constant changes in technology.  In 2004 we added Business Continuity to our range of services following the conversion of a WWII aircraft hangar to a state of the art recovery facility.

The facility has seven office suites providing more than 650 fully configured workplace recovery positions with comfortable meeting rooms and recreational areas.  The whole building is air conditioned and protected by a dual generator infrastructure.  Separately routed BT and Virgin Media fibre connections provide all the communications and phone lines needed to keep businesses up and running in any event.  Our rural location has excellent access routes and plenty of onsite parking.
The facility includes a high specification data centre providing a range of services including co-location hosting, cloud computing and online data backup.  A skilled team of technical staff is based at the facility to provide support for all customer requirements both for equipment at the hangar and on their own premises.

Our employees are accredited by major industry manufacturers and continuously updated with recognised technical qualifications to ensure customers can be provided with accurate, up-to-date information and solutions.  New products and technologies are continuously assessed for suitability to be added to our portfolio.  We work in partnership with all our customers to provide a high level of service where each contract is tailored to meet specific requirements.
