Event description

FREE event hosted by Air-IT, with their specialist cyber security division Air-Sec, in conjunction with

East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU)

Join Air-IT and their specialist cyber security division, Air-Sec, at Derbyshire County Cricket Club where our expert speakers will share their professional insights about the latest cyber security threats, what you need to do to protect your business and how to prepare to meet compliance for forthcoming GDPR changes.

Cyber threats are growing in both number and complexity. The UK Government estimate that cyber-attacks cost UK business £29.1 billion in 2016, with some 2.9 million companies hit by some form of attack.

It’s believed over half of UK businesses have suffered a ransomware attack with 1 in 5 reporting material loss during 2016. These figures are likely to be much higher in real terms since many cyber-attacks go unreported.

The repercussions are becoming increasingly more severe with many high profile global attacks making the news. This has been a wake-up call for many, and the time has come for businesses to take their cyber-security and data protection seriously.

Additionally, forthcoming changes to data protection law being enforced by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) from 25th May 2018, means businesses need to plan to meet compliance or risk penalties which includes fines of up to 20m Euros or 4% of global turnover. The 2017 Cyber Security Breaches survey reports that currently only 7% of companies invest in cyber security to comply with laws or regulations. And research also indicates that many companies are confused and not fully ready for GDPR.

Delegates will hear from experts from the Police Cyber Crime Team (Robert Pugh), leading law firm Browne Jacobson LLP (Helena Wootton), digital marketing leaders Hallam Internet (Susan Hallam), East Midlands Chamber Business Crime Team (Andy Watterson),Government backed accreditation provider the IASME Consortium (Chris Pinder), as well as hearing from our own Cyber Security expert, Air-IT Chief Technology Officer, Sam Reed.

Refreshments will be available throughout and during the lunch break delegates will have the opportunity to take part in a unique tour and hands on cricket experience with some of the DCCC players.

Key takeaways will include:

  • Gain an inside view from the Police about how cyber crime is affecting local business
