Event description

Description

You've seen it in the news, cyber-attacks on the NHS and companies like Talk Talk. Cyber Security is a boardroom level issue that simply refuses to go away. It is a serious problem for everyone, both professionally and privately. To gain any confidence in security the threats we face must be confronted head on. But there really is no need to feel intimidated. The majority of things organisations and individuals need to do are really quite simple. Consistently applying principles and planning your security strategy are the key to confidence. In this engaging session, Dean will help you to navigate the why, the what and the how? Focusing on the simple things that really matter will enable you to make a step change in your organisations security readiness and reduce your chances of becoming the victim.

Guest speaker Dean Taylor, Managing Security Consultant for BT Global Services

With over 20 years’ experience in IT and Mobile Telephony, Dean Taylor is a Managing Security Consultant for BT Global Services. His team of thirteen security consultants are responsible for protecting BT from internal and external threats arising from the hundreds of IT projects BT deliver every year. In addition to helping the wider BT business understand its risks, his team works to maintain legal and regulatory compliance by constantly driving security best practice. He is an evangelist for education and awareness, believing that when it comes to security assurance, people are the first and last line of defence.
