Being Investor-ready: what investors look for beyond the Pitch Deck. Insights from experts in go-to-market (Vencha) and finance (InfiniteCFO) for scale-ups.

Navigating the world of investment can be challenging and complex for technology scale-ups. In this session, Richard Blundell will interview Paul Watson, Simon Smith and Tim Cadbury to draw upon their extensive experience in how to navigate this critical topic, in particular from a financial and go-to-market perspective.

About the Panel:

Richard Blundell | Vencha Co-Founder

Richard is a SaaS GTM operator, advisor, and author with two decades of scaling B2B software companies. As Founder of Vencha and Vencha Scale Academy, he helps early-stage teams hit $1M+ ARR with real-world strategies, not theory. He recently lectured on GTM execution at ESCP Business School.

Vencha exists to serve Founders, CEO’s and Investors who are determined to build stronger and bigger SaaS businesses. With relevant experience and an outside perspective Vencha share their proven growth methodologies to help build strong, fast growing businesses. Vencha also runs the Vencha Scale Academy, which teaches founders how to sell software, raise their next round and grow their businesses. Richard & Paul were both part of the senior management team at MessageLabs in Gloucester that sold in 2008 for $700m

Alongside Chris Tottman from Notion Capital, Paul & Richard have co-authored 2 books:

  • The Go to Market Handbook for B2B SaaS Leaders
  • The Big Book of BrainDumps

Paul Watson | Vencha Co-Founder

Paul is co-Founder of Vencha, with a background spanning mining, finance, and SaaS. Across 25 years in tech and four ventures, he's helped build $200M+ in ARR as a Founder, CEO and CPO. Today, he partners with Richard to guide founders through the scale-up phase — translating scars into shortcuts.

Simon Smith | Founder & CEO of InfiniteCFO

Simon is a finance leader with over two decades of experience helping high-growth tech companies scale, raise capital, and exit. As CFO/COO at Adeptra, he helped grow the business from pre-revenue to a global fintech leader before its 9-figure acquisition by FICO (NYSE: FICO).

He later served as CFO at C6 Intelligence, Volo Commerce and other venture-backed businesses.

Today, Simon is the founder and CEO of InfiniteCFO, which provides a virtual finance function for high growth businesses. InfiniteCFO, which has offices in London and Cheltenham and a team of over 30 people, helps founders build high-performing finance functions that drive strategic growth and exit readiness. Simon brings deep operational and transactional expertise and is a trusted advisor to founders and investors navigating the path to scale and liquidity.

Tim Cadbury | Client CFO at InfiniteCFO

Tim supports high growth technology businesses with financial operations, financial planning & analysis and strategic finance (including M&A, fundraises and technology-led finance transformations). Tim leads InfiniteCFO’s partnerships with investors, NEDs and others in the ecosystem. Tim also heads up InfiniteCFO’s Cheltenham office.

Having qualified at KPMG, Tim spent much of his career at ITV plc, including as Finance Director of the £2bn advertising division, Head of Group Financial Planning & Analysis, and in Investor Relations, working with The City. Beyond finance, Tim spent four years leading the £100m technology business SDN, and was also a Director of a Joint Venture with Channel 4.
