Description

Cycle 750 – Edinburgh to London, the Hard Way!

In 2016, Ken Reid rode from Edinburgh to London, the hard way! First of all, he went via Belfast, Dublin and Cardiff on his way to London. Secondly, he did it on the back of a tandem!

Ken is blind and needed the support of a relay of volunteer pilots to get him round the British Isles, a journey of over 750 miles. All the pilots were strangers to Ken at the start of the ride. His story demonstrates the trust that blind people need to place in strangers every day.

As a result of his ride, Ken has raised enough money to record, produce and distribute five new books for RNIB’s Talking Book Library.

Come along to learn why talking books matter so much to Ken and why he thought this ride might be a good way of giving his support. Hear about some of the wonderful people he met along the way, and the great experiences he had.

This talk is part of the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling 2017, donations to help the RNIB’s Talking Book Library are appreciated.
