To raise funds for the Cycle Hub Activities we are putting on a film festival, come join us for an exciting evening of inspiring films!

About this event

As you may be aware, here at Inverness Royal Academy we love bikes! We have become a Scottish Cycling affiliated club and we have raised money to build a mountain bike skills loop in the school grounds. We are now putting on a film night – with films from The Adventure Syndicate , Broon Coo Films, DMBinS, Trash Free Trails and BBC Alba already confirmed and more in the pipeline!

We are also looking for submissions of films from young people to celebrate the Year of Stories 2022.

“The love of stories is hardwired into us all; it is one of the strongest ways we connect with one another and share our experiences. Great stories, well told, can evoke indelible images in our minds and bring contemporary and traditional cultures to life.”

We are looking for submissions of films which tell a story about biking or through biking - it can be a documentary or fiction. It could focus on the environment, wilderness, culture, adventure or the human story behind the bike. It could look to the future or delve into history, anything which is an interesting tale to tell. It might include adrenaline filled action sequences or calm, lyrical voices; beautiful natural vistas or edgy urban architecture. Films can be narrated in English, Scots or Gàidhlig with subtitles and should be 2-5 minutes long although exceptional, longer films up to 20 minutes may be considered.

Closing date for film submissions: Friday 5th August

For more information and to submit your films, visit our Instagram page @invernessroyalcyclehub

If you would be interested in creating films with young people there are lots of resources at intofilm.org and their Future Learn CPD course. If this isn’t for you I would be grateful if you could still share the information as widely as possible – across Highland, Scotland and beyond and encourage young people to create and enter their own films.
