Event description

Description

Richard Lord, an Edinburgh-based cycling coach, has battled depression for over two decades. Unfortunately, around 1 in 10 of us will suffer from depression at some point in our lives. When it bites, it really digs in and it is hugely debilitating. There are several remedies and therapies to combat depression. Exercise has proven benefits but when you’re at the bottom of a pit it’s a mammoth task to get out of bed, let alone on a bike. More often than not though, after 10 minutes of exercise the weight lifts from your heavy muscles, your lungs open and the fog starts to lift. I know this from first hand experience and doing this regularly enough has helped me get my life back on track. Cycling is also a great mindfulness meditation. Feeling the pedals under your feet, the chain turning the back wheel and the terrain beneath your tyres.

This is event is an open discussion where I will share my experiences and tips to help yourself of those around you to help manage your condition.

Places are limited to 25 riders.
