This session will last no longer than one hour and is a chance to find out more about Bikeability for children, test out Santander cycle hire, and cycle on the new cycle superhighway. All adults in the school community are welcome to take part.
Our area now has some of the best cycling infrastructure in London to enjoy safe routes to explore the city by bike and get to/from/between schools. Many of our schools offer Bikeability for children as a route to independence, resilience and wellbeing; this is your chance to see what it's all about. This is a friendly, sociable, practical session to benefit staff participants and their school community.
The ride will be led by fully accredited National Standards cycle instructor Charlie Holland who has led cycle rides for adults and children all over London and delivered 'Bikeability' training for hundreds of KS2 pupils in our schools.
Meet time and place can be flexible to meet needs of participants. All sessions are designed for people who can already balance and steer a bicycle, but it doesn't matter if the last time you did was many years ago, or if you've never cycled in London.
Please wear comfortable clothes suitable for the weather. You can bring your own bike if you have one, or use a hire bike from the Santander docking station which is near the meet point. Let us know if you have a disability which requires a different type of cycle; we can help organise this.
Please let us know if you are interested but have never ridden a bike before. It may be possible to organise an additional session of off-road training for complete beginners (similar to Level One Bikeability training in the playground).
