About this Event

Cynhelir 13fed Cyfarfod Diatomau Ewrop yn Sain Ffagan Amgueddfa Werin Cymru, Caerdydd. Bydd gwyddonwyr o bob cwr o Ewrop a thu hwnt yn dod ynghyd i drafod amrywiaeth o bynciau ymchwil diatomau.

Rydym yn gwahodd cyfranwyr o feysydd biodaearyddiaeth, systemateg a thacsonomi, ecoleg, palaeoecoleg a monitro amgylcheddol drwy ddefnyddio dulliau morffolegol a moleciwlaidd, ac yn benodol astudiaethau mewn meysydd sy’n ategu prif thema’r cyfarfod ‘Cynnydd Bioddaearyddiaeth Diatomau: Esboniadau am Endemigrwydd Microbaidd’. Dilynir y cyfarfod deuddydd gan weithdy diwrnod ar gymhlethdod rhywogaethau’r grŵp Fragilaria capucina.

Gwethidy: Fragilaria capucina:

19 Mawrth 2020 | 9.30am - 5pm

Bydd dwy ran i’r gweithdy ar gymhlethdod rhywogaethau’r grŵp Fragilaria capucina. Yn y bore bydd darlithoedd yn dogfennu a thrafod rhywogaethau’r grŵp. Yn y prynhawn bydd rhywogaethau dethol yn cael eu hastudio drwy gyfrwng microsgopeg golau, deunydd teipsleidiau a phoblogaethau eraill yn Ewrop. Mae croeso i gyfranwyr ddod â sleidiau o rywogaethau sy’n peri benbleth i’w harchwilio a’u trafod yn ystod y sesiynau microsgopeg. Caiff llyfryn o nodiadau’r gweithdy ei gynhyrchu.

The 13th European Diatom Meeting will be held at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales, St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff, United Kingdom. It brings together scientists from Europe and further afield to discuss a broad range of topics in diatom research.

We are inviting contributions in diatom biogeography, systematics and taxonomy, ecology, paleoecology and environmental monitoring using morphological and molecular approaches, and in particular studies across disciplines that contribute to the major theme of the meeting ‘Progress in Diatom Biogeography: Explanations for Microbial Endemism’. The two-day meeting is followed by a one-day taxonomic workshop on the complex of species in the Fragilaria capucina group.

Workshop: Fragilaria capucina

19 March 2020 | 9.30am - 5pm

The workshop on the complex of species in the Fragilaria capucina group will consist of two parts. During the morning sessions, lectures will document and discuss all species in this group. In the afternoon, selected species will be illustrated using light microscopy and material from type slides and other populations from Europe. Participants are welcome to bring their own slides with problematic species which can be examined and discussed during the microscope sessions. A booklet with the notes of the workshop will be provided.
