Mae’r gweithdy hwn yn gyflwyniad i fyd bendigedig lliwiau lliwur naturiol yn Amgueddfa Wlân Cymru – lleoliad i’ch ysbrydoli. Byddwch yn dysgu sut i baratoi ffibrau a gwneud lliwurau o blanhigion megis lliwlys a chollen Ffrengig, a chreu samplau ar edafedd gwlân a chnu (gyda nodiadau ar ryseitiau i fynd adref gyda chi). Mae prosesau fydd dan sylw yn y gweithdy yn cynnwys defnyddio brathliw, defnyddio lliwurau planhigion ac addasu lliwiau.

Mae’r diwrnod llawn hwyl hwn yn addas i ddechreuwyr pur. Darperir holl offer, deunydd a dillad diogelwch – ond bydd diferion ym mhobman, felly gwisgwch ddillad addas. Gallwch ddod â llyfr nodiadau a chamera/ffôn os dymunwch.

This workshop is an introduction to the wonderful world of natural dye colours in the inspirational setting of the National Wool Museum. You will learn how to prepare fibres and make dyes from plants such as weld and walnut, then create samples on wool yarn and fleece (with notes on recipes to take home). Processes covered in the workshop include mordanting, use of plant dyes and colour modification.

This fun, relaxed day is suitable for complete beginners. All equipment and materials and protective clothing will be supplied - but you should wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a drip or two of dye on. You may also wish to bring a notebook and camera/phone.

Light refreshments will be provided. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit our on-site catering facilities.

All tickets for this event must be purchased in advance.

Language: This course will be held in English but we are happy to provide simultaneous translation if you would like to take part in Welsh. Please choose a ticket in your language of choice, making sure you have one ticket for each person. Please book your tickets at least one week before the event.

Accessibility: Our learning spaces are fully accessible. Please contact events@museumwales.ac.uk prior to booking to discuss any accessibility requirements.

Concession eligibility: Students with NUS or those in receipt of benefits. Over 60’s, Under 18’s* (16-18 year olds must be accompanied by a participating adult)

Health and safety guidance for students:

This workshop will involve the use of very small quantities of fine powder and possible dust from dried plant materials. Disposable dust masks will be provided. Please let the tutor know on the day if you have respiratory sensitivity and need to stand out of the work area.

Gloves (non -latex), aprons, and goggles will be provided.

The workshop features wool, so please bear this in mind if you are allergic to wool/lanolin.
