Mewn ymateb i arddangosfa Bert Isaac (05.07.2025 – 29.09.2025) bydd cyfres o 4 sgwrs wedi ei ciwradu gan Dr Dafydd Roberts i weld hanes cymunedau chwareli mewn lluniau gan artistiaid niferus .Bydd cyfle i fanylu ar sut roedd celfyddydau gain a llenyddiaeth yn cynrychioli y cymunedau Chwareli Gwynedd . Bydd bob cyfranwyr yn craffu a manylu ar deunydd celf gain i haneswyr i greu darlun o gymunedau chwareli yn y cyfnod.
Yn y trydydd sgwrs yn y cyfres bydd y Prifardd Ieuan Wyn yn trafod cynefin 'R. Williams Parry'. Bydd cyfle i fwrw golwg ar rai o themâu barddoniaeth un o feirdd mwyaf nodedig y deugeinfed ganrif a'i ymateb i amgylchiadau yn nhirwedd chwareli Gwynedd. Bydd y sgwrs yma yn canolbwyntio ar rai o themâu ei farddoniaeth gyda'i ymateb i amgylchiadau a digwyddiadau ei gyfnod. Amlygir peth o fywyd y gymdeithas leol yn Nyffryn Ogwen yn ogystal â'r amgylchedd naturiol gyda'i fywyd gwyllt.
The quarry on Canvas . Documenting the quarry communities of Gwynedd through art.
In response to Bert Isaac's exhibition (05.07.2025 – 29.09.2025), there will be a series of 4 talks curated by Dr. Dafydd Roberts to explore the history of quarry communities through images by numerous artists. There will be an opportunity to elaborate on how visual arts and literature represented the Gwynedd Quarry communities. Each contributor will scrutinize and elaborate on fine art material for historians to create a picture of quarry communities during that time.
In the penultimate talk the National Eisteddfod's chaired poet Ieuan Wyn will delve into the landscape's infuence on seminal poet R. Williams Parry work . An overview of some themes in the poetry of one of the most notable poets of the twentieth century and his response to the circumstances in the landscape of Gwynedd's quarries. This talk will focus on some themes in his poetry along with his response to the circumstances and events of his time. Some aspects of local society in the Ogwen Valley are highlighted, along with the natural environment and its wildlife.
