Cynhelir Cynhadledd WISERD 2019 dros ddau ddiwrnod (Mercher 3 - Iau 4 Gorffennaf) yng Nghanolfan Gynadledda Medrus, Prifysgol Aberystwyth, Aberystwyth.  

Mae'r gynhadledd ar agor i gydweithwyr ar draws y sectorau academaidd, polisi, cyhoeddus, preifat a thrydydd sector yng Nghymru.  

Thema cynhadledd eleni yw 'Cymdeithas Sifil a Chymryd Rhan' ac mae'n cynnwys amrywiaeth o gyflwyniadau ar y themâu allweddol canlynol:

Gofynnir i fyfyrwyr PhD sefyll wrth ochr eu poster i gyflwyno a thrafod eu hymchwil gyda'r panel adolygu o feirniaid ddydd Mercher 3 Gorffennaf.

 

Cystadleuaeth Cynnig Poster - noddir gan Ganolfan Hyfforddi Doethurol Cymru yr ESRC 

Bydd myfyrwyr PhD yn cael y cyfle i gyflwyno cynnwys eu poster mewn dau funud difyr. Dylai'r cyflwyniad fod mewn arddull ddifyr addas i bobl leyg fydd yn annog cyd-fynychwyr y gynhadledd i edrych ar yr ymchwil a'i drafod.

 

Cyhoeddir yr enillydd yng Nghynhadledd WISERD 2019, a bydd yn derbyn gwobr o dalebau llyfrau werth £200.  I ymgeisio, mae angen i fyfyrwyr gofrestru cyn dydd Gwener 15 Mai 2019, drwy anfon ebost gyda 'Poster Pitch' yn y blwch testun i WiserdAnnualConference@cardiff.ac.uk .

WISERD 2019 Annual Conference

3 July - 4 July 2019

Medrus Conference Centre, Aberystwyth University 

The WISERD 2019 Conference will take place over two days (Wednesday 3 - Thursday 4 July) at the Medrus Conference Centre, Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth.

The conference is open to colleagues from across the academic, policy, public, private, and third sectors in Wales. 

The theme for this year's conference is 'Civil Cociety and Participation' and includes a variety of presentations, panel discussions and workshops on the following key themes: 

    • Civil Society, Participation and Governance
    • Language Participation, Culture and Identity
    • Wales Global Connections: Civil Society and Participation in Context
    • Participation and Civil Society through the Life Course
    • Participation in Education
    • Participation in the Labour Market
    • Working with Communities
    • Participatory Research in Housing, Health and Social Care
    • Activism and Civil Society Research
    • Doing Participatory and Action Research

 

Keynote Speaker

We are delighted to welcome our keynote speaker:-

Professor Kevin Morgan, School of Geography and Planning, Cardiff University who will be giving a plenary lecture on Thursday 4 July.

 

PhD Student Competitions

PhD student poster competition - sponsored by The Learned Society of Wales awarding a cash prize of £200 for the winning poster.

PhD students are asked to stand by their poster to present and discuss their research to the reviewing panel of judges on Wednesday 3 July.

 

PhD Poster Pitching competition - sponsored by ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Centre –

PhD studentshave the opportunity to present the content of their poster in an engaging two minute ‘Poster pitch’. The presentation should be in an engaging lay manner that will encourage fellow conference attendees to view and discuss the research.

The winner will be announced at the WISERD 2019 Conference, and will receive a prize in the form of book tokens to the value of £200.  To enter, students need to register before Friday 15 May 2019, by sending an email with ‘Poster pitch’ in the subject box to WiserdAnnualConference@cardiff.ac.uk .

 

Accommodation 

En-suite accommodation is available at Aberystwyth University on Tuesday 2, Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 July at a cost of £39.90 per night.

Reception 

The WISERD Politics and Governance Network will be hosting a networking reception, which is open to all delegates, following the keynote presentation by Professor Lynn Staeheli on Wednesday 3 July.

 

Dinner options for Wednesday 3 July

This year there will be an informal postgraduate social at 19:00 Yr Hen Orsaf (Wetherspoons).

However, all other conference participants are required to arrange their own dinner – details of options will be made available.

 

Booking

Registration for the conference opens on 28 March 2019 with early bird rates applying until 22 May 2019. 

Two Day Rates

Early Bird Standard Two Day Rate: 3 and 4 July (for bookings made prior to 22 May 2019) - £140.00

Early Bird Standard Student Two Day Rate: 3 and 4 July (for currently registered PhD students, for bookings made prior to 22May 2019) - £60.00

Late Standard Two Day Rate: 3 and 4 July (for bookings made after 22 May and before 15 June) - £200.00

Late Standard Student Day Rate: 3 and 4 July (for currently registered PhD students, for bookings made after 22 May and before 15 June) - £70.00

One Day Rate

Early Bird Day Rate (for bookings made prior to 22 May 2019) - £70.00

Early Bird Student Day Rate (for currently registered PhD students, for bookings made prior to 22 May 2019) - £30.00

Standard Day Rate (for bookings made after 23 May and before 15 June) - £100.00

Standard Student Day Rate (for currently registered PhD students, for bookings made after 23 May and before 15 June) - £35.00

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Conference registration fees include access to conference sessions, lunch, refreshments and the drinks and networking reception. Fees do not include travel or accommodation. Accommodation is available as an optional extra. Payment must be received prior to the event.

The organisers cannot accept liability for costs incurred in the event of the conference having to be cancelled as a result of circumstances beyond its reasonable control

Early Bird Rate: To qualify for ‘the Early Bird rate’ you must register by 2 June 2019. Bookings received after this date will be subject to the full delegate rate.

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given for any cancellations before 22 May 2019. Cancellations after 22 May 2019 will incur a 50% cancellation charge. No money will be refunded for cancellations after Sunday 2 June 2019. Cancellation must be made in writing / by email. Substitutions are acceptable but must be requested in writing / by email.

The Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD) is a national, interdisciplinary, social science research institute. We have been designated by the Welsh Government as a national research centre. Using innovative approaches, our research spans the fields of economics, sociology, geography and political science.

We are a collaborative venture between the universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, South Wales and Swansea – working together to improve the quality and quantity of social science research in Wales and beyond. Our research effects change by influencing the development of policy and practice across a range of sectors.
