Event description

Description

A tandem skydive is the ultimate adrenaline rush. When you jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet and freefall at 125mph it is an experience like nothing else on earth. Beyond exhilarating, it defies description - the only way to understand it- is to do it!

Join our D-Day Commemorative Skydive on Sunday 16th June 2019 to mark 75 years since the D-Day landings and raise vital funds for Alabaré Home For Veterans.

Paratroopers were the first soldiers to land on French soil during D-Day - giving this Commemorative event an extra significance.

Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans provide supported accommodation to British Armed Forces Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We believe no Veteran should be forced to sleep on the streets. We provide dedicated support to Veterans across the South of England and Wales - specifically; Wiltshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Dorset as well as North and South Wales. On any given night our Homes for Veterans are able to keep over 129 Veterans off the streets.

Important - please read before you sign up:

  1. All Participants will need to self certify medical form 115A, if you have any of the conditions listed you MUST get a doctors certificate on form 115B. Having these conditions doesn't necessarily prevent you from taking part but you cannot do so without the doctors certificate and these take time to process.

  2. All participants must raise a minimum of £395 in sponsorship for Alabaré's Homes for Veterans.

  3. For full terms and conditions please go to goskydive.com

FAQs

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Yes, anyone wishing to jump must be 16 by jump day. There is no upper age limit - if you are fit and healthy then you can get airborne! ID will be required to prove age.

Do I need additional insurance?

Go Sky Dive have public liability insurance to cover you for the duration of your dive. We have absolute confidence in their ability to deliver a safe and fun event – otherwise we wouldn’t be doing this.

Alabaré has £10m in public liability insurance and will be working to ensure you are safe while on the ground.

However, we cannot cover you for all eventualities should at the most exciting moment of your life, your body decides to rebel. For this reason, we recommend you consider taking out private medical health insurance.

Will I get help raising the £395 required?

Yes, Alabaré will help with idea and give you guidance on how to set up your on-line giving page - you just need to add the energy!

May I bring friends and family?

Absolutely. Most of you wouldn’t have gotten this far without the generous support of your friends and family – and some of them may want proof that you jumped! Alabaré has booked Go Sky Dive for the entire day so there is plenty of room to bring in your cheer leading team. There will be food and refreshments available to purchase from the café which opens at 8.30am. Everyone who jumps will be given a sausage, bacon or veggie breakfast roll and a hot or cold (non-alcoholic drink).

You friends and family can loiter in the café but they may want to be outside to watch you undertake the jump. The airfield can get very windy and cool so please encourage everyone to dress appropriately.

If you are going to bring children, please understand that this is a working airfield and they must be supervised at all times.

What should I wear? Can I wear a costume?

Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and lace up trainers, failure to wear the correct clothing maybe result in you being unable to jump. But yes, you can wear a costume. This may help you take your fundraising to another level!

Under what conditions will the jump be postponed?

If there is low cloud cover or wind speed is measured as being higher than 25knotts per hour, the jump cannot go ahead.

Should the event as a whole be postponed, we will set a back up date closer to the time.

Should the weather look questionable, we will receive a text message the day before between 4-5pm – please ensure we have your correct phone number and email.
