Description

Death, Divorce, Disability & Diversity - practical solutions for everyday events

Taking time to plan for unexpected events such as death, divorce, disability or diversity is essential for farming families and can help to reduce stress, save costs, and resolve conflicts among family members during times of trauma and family crisis.

Planning ahead can just make things just a little bit easier when families experience difficult times.

Rollits’ specialist agricultural team have joined forces with Sowerbys to host a FREE breakfast seminar which will look at important issues that affect farming families around the four ‘Ds’

Sheridan Ball, a Partner at Rollits and member of the agricultural team is a specialist in family law dealing with all issues arising on divorce and separation particularly complex financial arrangements. She will be looking at the Court’s approach to division of assets on divorce, asset protection options and the enforceability of Pre Nuptial Agreements.

Sarah Adams is an Associate at Rollits specialising in private capital matters. Sarah advises on all aspects of estate and succession planning including the preparation of wills, the creation of trusts and care home fee planning. Sarah will be covering private client issues for farmers including estate and succession planning, the avoidance of family disputes on death and putting measures in place in the event that an individual requires care.

Richard Skewis, one of the partners at Sowerby Chartered Accountants, has been acting for clients within the agricultural sector for 30 years. He helps those clients remain commercially viable and profitable whilst also preparing for the future with succession planning, whether through transfers during their lifetime or via their Wills on death. He will be discussing the need for most agricultural clients to intensify/diversify to ensure they remain profitable and commercially viable and highlighting potential tax traps which will not always become apparent until years later and may be extremely costly. He will also be discussing Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief in relation to Inheritance Tax Relief.

Who should attend?
