Event description

Description

One of Beach Creative's events as part of Journeys with ‘The Waste Land’ programme: Turner Contemporary 3 Feb to 7th May 2018.

Creative writing workshop for participants, aged 14 & above. Participants undertake a silent visit to Ian Jones & Catherine Francis-Yeats' exhibitions & a note-taking visit in search of the striking . The facilitator will then share examples of DADA / FUTURIST inspired poetry - as contemporaries of Eliot at the time of his writing TWL.

Participants may then choose to a) cut up & use Eliot's poem alone to create a found poem; or b) combine this with their notes & knowledge on the area to make an ekphrastic poem, based on the poem & artworks. NB: An Eliot favourite, Stravinsky's Rites of Spring will play quietly in the background.

Participants will then share their poems & in addition be invited to perform as Special Guests during our At The Edge, The Waste Land themed Spoken Word event later in the day.
