Dad's Event - The Lighter Side of Life
Thu 24 November 2016, 19:30 – 21:30 EST
We’re delighted to be hosting a special evening with stand-up comedian, blogger and author John Williams, exploring what it’s like to be the father of a child with Special Needs.
John Williams is a stand up comedian and single dad to his 12 year old son who has autism and cerebral palsy. He’s certainly no super parent, and doesn’t have all the answers. Over the years though he has learnt that finding the humour, and discovering the joy in their lives, has enabled him to connect with his son in ways he didn’t think possible. Real beauty in this world, he says, is often in the small things. John has featured extensively on Radio 4, and an excerpt of his talk was selected by the BBC as one of their Magic Moments of Radio 2015. His book, based on the popular blog he writes called My Son’s Not Rainman, was published in September 2016.
The evening will include an Indian meal, an opportunity for Questions, and the chance to meet with other fathers of children with Special Needs. A pay bar will also be available.
Places are strictly limited, so please register as soon as possible to ensure that you don’t miss out.
