Daisy Harvest for Herbalists Without Borders
Event Information
About this event
We need help harvesting daisies to make daisy oil for bruise ointment to be taken over to the refugee camps in Northern France.
Meet at The Art House at 6pm and we’ll set off to pick daisies nearby.
No equipment or expertise needed, anyone can help as long as you can reach the ground to pick - if you can’t, come anyway to encourage pickers.
We’ll have some time for a chat and a cup of herbal tea back at The Art House once we’re done picking.
Currently Herbalists without Borders use daisies in a bruise ointment which is distributed by trained herbalists in the refugee camps near Calais and to other vulnerable communities.
Daisies are a great plant for communal gathering - they love to be harvested and bring folk together for communal activity and DIY home remedy making. They’re inherently anti capitalist as mass production business models for using daisies don’t work - daisy picking is too fiddly and just doesn't work to upscale, so this is a truly grassroots activity!
You do not have to bring anything but yourself to this event.
We have limited group size to enable self-directed social distancing, along with hand sanitiser stations and ventilation to help keep you safer.
We encourage you to wear a face covering when moving around the space and ask that you seek enthusiastic consent for any closer contact with others attending the event.
The event is on our ground floor which has level access and an accessible, all-gender toilet on the same floor and offsite within a short walking distance.
We will also have snacks, cakes and drinks for sale and our community pantry will be open.
