About this event
David Harrison is a writer and eductator with over 30 years' experience in adult education. Guildhall Jazz Performance graduate, series editor of the world's best-selling instrumental tutor series A New Tune A Day and author of the Bob Dylan Complete (pub. Hal Leonard), David has taught guitar and saxophone at London's City Literary Institute for over 25 years.
His relaxed, inclusive style ensures an entertaining and inspiring session where you'll meet other music students , expand your repertoire and pick up all sorts of tips to explore your instrument. May contain cats.
Suitable for all guitarists with some familiarity with the fingerboard and a basic grasp of scale types who are keen to expand their repertoire: shapes, comping, scale choices, improv, substitutions and styles are all covered in these sessions that aim to deliver a fun and enlightening look at jazz guitar technique. Each week we'll take a tune from the jazz standard repertoire and work through the various features of the piece, referencing theory, technique and stylistic considerations. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and try things out. Hope to see you there!
