Dan Donnelly
Overview
Often known as the "ultimate sideman" for his time in iconic bands like The Wonder Stuff and The Levellers, Northern Irish artist Dan Donnelly is a powerful songwriter and performer in his own right, bringing his unique sound back to his roots for the Imagine Festival.
Dan's first band, the Belfast folk-rock outfit Watercress, achieved national success in Ireland. Since then, his solo career has taken him all over the globe. He has released four solo albums and has also written and sung with international acts like The Celtic Social Club, who enjoyed considerable success in France and made it onto the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. His resume also includes extensive performing and collaborating with groups such as The Oysterband and alternative pop group Joy Zipper.
Donnelly's solo sound is an aggressive, dynamic blend that he calls Country and Northern—a fusion of country passion, punk energy, and his deep Irish roots.
“Donnelly unites his Irish roots with country passion and his work is of impressive quality.” – Country Music People.
A compelling live artist with a rich, dynamic history, Dan Donnelly will deliver an exceptional and unforgettable night of music as part of the Imagine Festival.
Supporting Dan is Jess Silk, a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from the Black Country. Armed with her distinctive, powerful voice and lyrics right from the heart, Jess delivers a passionate and melodic brand of folk/punk music. She has released two full-length albums and recently shared a stage with Billy Bragg at Glastonbury and opened for acts including The Levellers and New Model Army.
