Event Details

This Dance Movement Psychotherapy Taster evening will provide you with you an opportunity to understand more about the principles and practice of this exciting and transformative field of study. The evening will include presentations, lectures and experiential work under the expert supervision of our academic team. This course will give you an insight into the field, including what professional training options are available, and what the experience of being a professional practitioner entails.

This course is ideal for you if you are looking for an introductory overview on the field of Dance Movement Psychotherapy. The taster evening offers you a unique chance to explore the area in terms of how theory and practice are combined with the training and how this training becomes later relevant to the professional field. You will have an opportunity to talk with Lecturers from our MA Dance Movement Psychotherapy programme about range of aspects you may be interested in finding out more about, including course content and career development. There will be a particular focus on the psychodynamic orientation of Dance Movement Psychotherapy which we specialise in.

In addition to this course, or if you already have a good overview of this field, you may be interested in our Introduction to Dance Movement Psychotherapy course, which is a full day workshop.

The course includes:

• A presentation on Dance Movement Psychotherapy as an expressive arts therapy, including the essential elements of the training and the development of the professional field.
• A lecture focusing on a particular area of practice, including a case study.
• A practical movement session in which you get to experience an aspect of Dance Movement Psychotherapy
• An opportunity for reflection, discussions and questions.
