About this event
DANCE - POWERFUL DANCE JOURNEYS.
Not so much a sober rave as a conscious dance journey.
A shoes and socks-off opportunity to move as you feel through an intricate and varied soundscape of electronic music.
Some words from Nathan:
"To drop deep into dance is a gift. In this event we have two hours with nothing more to focus on than music, movement- and being present to what arises. Both internally, and in the room. We open up a space for this.
A dedicated focus to electronic music and club-level DJing can be hard to find in conscious dance spaces. Here we find the meeting ground between conscious dance and the more forward-thinking elements of the club.
We are invited into motion through the carefully-chosen and woven mix- and our own curiosity to sensation, emotion, and conscious awareness. Through the beats, tempos, rhythms and music styles we move with, we have an experience of Journey.
The transformative power of it comes through being present in stillness and movement. We start and end the Journey together, riding a shared wave of energy. Practising being with our experience, rather than escaping it.
We naturally create a sense of shared cohesion, rather than the sometimes-chaotic nature of a club. Dancing our dance, we might feel more nourished, complete, uplifted and centred by the end of it."
Well mixed, inspiring and varied music-
sensitively chosen for the power of the dance.
Tunes of a kind you may not have heard before-
all kinds of electronic dance music are possible-
and many genres of it are woven into the live DJ mix.
This night is for those who love dance music, dancing and clubbing,
but seek the liberation of total release and dance movement expression in fresh context.
It's for those of us who love dance music and dancing.
We ride the wave of energy together- with ourselves and each other,
in a concentrated 2-hour dance.
The format? The energy builds up, peaks, and comes back down.
We experience the range of possibility within the movement Journey.
Here, you have the space to be as you are- as you want and need to be.
Whatever the music's doing, you go at your own pace.
Full-on movement flow, without the need to hold back-
and yet without any expectation to push forward, either.
You can dance from start to finish, or simply lay on the floor,
appreciating inner states of being as the rhythms ride out!
There's no set prescription of how to be-
only respectful of ourselves and each other in the space.
For many, it's a deeper dance experience.
Stillness, movement, and the moment.
Beats to facilitate your exploration in space.
Be prepared to dance!
Frequently asked questions
Techno, House, Acid, Ambient, atmospheric sweeps, bass and banging beats. Occasional diversions. Slower and faster, softer and harder. Feel-good light and uplifting, and a few darker. Supporting a range of movement. A good sound system. Playing loud- but not quite as loud or high-spec as a club.
Nathan has years of free dance experience, both as attendee and facilitator- see 'EARTH SKY DANCE' testimonials. Deep reflection, meditation, yoga and philosophy are infused in his approach. His passion for electronic music began over 20 years ago, and he is currently re-embracing his love of DJing.
This event is for you if you like electronic music and want to move. If you are ready and open to being with yourself and others in movement. It's for anyone willing to let loose and explore their own authentic movement pathways- to an amazing electronic music soundtrack.
It might not be for you if 'all electronic music sounds the same,' and a good solid 4x4 beat doesn't set you in motion! Nor if, for whatever reason, you're not up for a dance exploring your own direct and embodied experience at this time. Or closed to club alternatives.
Arrive 7.45pm for room entry 8pm. (Doors close 8.15pm). No opening circle. Begin warming up as you feel to. Perhaps lying down, sensing, grounding. Or stretching, loosening. A gently-guided warm-up follows. Leads into main dance- self&music-led- no words. 9.45pm(ish) closing circle. Leaving at 10pm.
OK! No set exercises- just invitational warm-up prompts- words to (hopefully!) help you arrive into your body and into the dance. No prescribed partner work. Just free-movement dance. The music, the space, the journey. The only verbal guidance is in the warm-up, the first part of the session.
Tickets online in advance via EVENTBRITE (& Skiddle) ONLY. Book early for best prices. Last-moment General Admission (i.e. full price) cash-only tickets available on the door. You might want to visit WWW.CONSCIOUSTECHNO.COM to listen to mixes, for contact and mailing list sign-up. No social media.
No lasers, strobes or neon, nor draping hippy cloth hangs! Not seeking to recreate the club environment, nor project a 'conscious' image (if such a thing can even exist!). A parred-back, no-frills, simple space to dance in. Held within the warm glow of fairy lights around the edge of the room.
Last entry 8.15pm. Dancing barefoot. Respect self/others/group. No photos/video/phones. No talking on the dance-floor. It's a non-verbal space- let's be with the movement. Put bags/coats etc. safely to sides of the room. Wear comfortable clothes, bring water. No drugs/alcohol. Sober entry only. 18+.
That's right. Generally no phones, photos, videos. Organisers/helpers may take photos/videos of DJ for promotional use, but that's it. If participants are in any photo/video, they will be blurred out before any promotional use. The intention is we can express freely and dance without distraction.
