Event description

Description

The Nelken Line is a movement of four seasons “Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter” from the 1982 dance piece “Nelken (carnations)” by Pina Bausch who established Dance Theatre.

It is a sequence of movement with just a few distinct gestures that the dancers perform proceeding in a long line, telling the alternation of the four seasons.

Now, hundreds and thousands of people are joining the Nelken Line from all over the world! Join the Nelken Line at Concertina by Richard Wentworth X APPARATA and share the happiness and joy of moving together!

Hosted by PTAMKD and arebyte, the Nelken Line will be performed at every hour in and around Concertina, followed by ‘Learn! The Nelken Line’ workshop. Then let’s all together form a long line of the four seasons! Everyone is invited to join. Dance lovers and not-so-dance lovers, families and singletons, the residents of the community and far away! Let’s create the longest Nelken Line, “as numerous, colourful and different as humanity itself.”

The event will be filmed throughout, and will become a part of The Nelken Line project by Pina Bausch Foundation. It will be available online for everyone to view at a later date.

Nearest Tube - Canning Town (DLR / Jubilee). Take the Bow Creek exit, head over the red bridge and follow the footpath round. arebyte Gallery is on the lower right corner of the square.
