Event description

Description

Solène Weinachter, co-creator of Lost Dog's acclaimed dance-theatre show Juliet & Romeo, will lead this physical dance / theatre workshop.

Lost Dog are a dance theatre company whose work uses movement and text to tell stories. Their most recent work Juliet & Romeo is based on Shakespeare’s pessimistic love story and explores whether our culture’s celebration of youth creates unrealistic expectations around love and relationships. The workshop will begin with a basic physical warm up and then go on to include some theatrical exercises and some storytelling combined with dance and movement – exploring at how Lost Dog uses story telling in their performance work.

Solène’s dance journey started on her kitchen floor and took her to The Place in London where she graduated with a BA(hons) and an MA in contemporary dance and performance. From 2007 to 2012 she danced with Scottish Dance Theatre where she first worked with Ben Duke in “The life and time of girl A’.Solène joined Lost Dog as a freelance dancer in 2012. She also worked with Gecko, Troubleyn and is currently dancing with Vera Tussing and Joan Cleville Dance. In parallel, Solène has co-created since 2010 a collective with Glasgow based music artist Jer Reid.

This workshop is for adult audiences (age 16+) who have seen Juliet & Romeo at Stanground College on Thurs 9 or Fri 10 May, as part of the Platform8 Theatre Festival. Please bring your tickets or booking confirmation as proof of eligibility for a free place. There are a few paid for places for those who have not seen Juliet & Romeo.
