About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Join the DEBS artists for a work-in-progress sharing of the R&D process so far.

During this week our 2023/24 Dancers Emerging Bursary Scheme artists, Catriona O’Connor, Hannah Draper, Laura Mathana and Rho McGuire, will join their mentor Solène Weinachter in the studio.

Every year, Dance Base offers a group of dancers and physical performers a place on our Dancers Emerging Bursary Scheme. The scheme includes mentoring from experienced dance artists, free professional classes and workshops at Dance Base, free selected community classes, up to two week-long group residencies at Dance Base and free studio space.

This Residency Week is part of the second year of the 2023/24 DEBS members time together with Dance Base. Since last year Soléne has supported the artists to find out what a sustainable practice as a dance artist means – practically, physically, creatively and politically. Soléne’s aim is to support the DEBS in discovering / working with what is alive for them (both as artists and as humans) and making that be the focus of their professional choices.
