Event description

Description

Black men from the African Diaspora have always placed a significant importance on their appearance. Swagged out in their finest threads, they evoke a puissant individualism that has usurped the historic classification associated with Dandyism. The reclamation of Dandyism by Black males from the African diaspora defies stereotypes and debunks the monolithic understanding of Black Male masculinity.

Curator, Larry Ossei-Mensah and Curator, Filmmaker and Author, Shantrelle Lewis will discuss how Dandyism serves as a powerful political device for defiance, rebellion and expression in our post colonial society.
