The Dangos intermediate course builds on the basic course, or is appropriate, for people with some experience as a refresher. Still designed for frontline workers, where financial advice and support is not the main function, it takes things more widely.
With an emphasis on other support available in Wales, beyond the core benefits system, and on developing working with other related workers, this offers a concentrated session of widening awareness.
This half-day session covers:
• The cost of living and the poverty premium
• The reality of absolute and relative poverty
• Debt and the routes out of debt
• The benefit system and how it’s changing
• Means-tested benefits
• Earnings replacement benefits
• Disability benefits
• How they fit together
• Housing Issues
• Health Issues
• Social Care issues
• Groups with special issues
• Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Immigrants
• Prisoners
• Other financial support in Wales
• Nudging people to take action
• Working together to achieve more.
• Taking it forward
In-house courses, which are available to those wanting to raise the awareness of teams between 10 and 20 at a time, also offer sessions tilted towards housing, health care or social care. Those can be arranged by emailing info@dangos.wales; or for sessions in Welsh by emailing info@dangos.cymru.
