Daniel Garlitsky is a descendant of a lineage of famous Russian violinists and teachers. His grandfather, Mikhail Garlitsky, was the founder of the "Step by Step" violin method. His father, Boris, winner of the Paganini competition and served as concertmaster of the Moscow Virtuosi orchestra and later of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
On December 5th, two of Europe’s foremost champions of early jazz join forces for a rare and unmissable night at the Bristol 1904 Arts club.
Franco-Russian violinist Daniel Garlitsky, newly entrusted by the Hot Club de France to carry forward the legendary Quintette du Hot Club de France, brings both classical mastery and the improvisational brilliance of Stéphane Grappelli’s lineage.
Beside him stands British bandleader Jack Calloway, whose Midnight Creepers have become one of the most internationally recognised ensembles devoted to the roaring energy of classic hot jazz.
The pair first crossed paths sharing the stage with internationally renowned Tatiana Eva-Marie at the Bristol 1904 Arts Club, vowing they must reunite—whether in Paris or back in England. Now, for ONE NIGHT ONLY, Garlitsky returns from Paris at Calloway’s invitation, as the two combine their artistry, fire, and humour in celebration of the timeless swing of Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli, and the golden age of hot jazz.
