Dark Matter is a Devised and Puppetry Performance. It is an exploration of how people with dementia cope with at the end of their life, the end of their memory. The project has been developing the last two years.
We use visual and physical storytelling methods to dive into the hallucinatory mind of Alfi, an elder who suffers from dementia in the twilight of his life. We follow his past in order to make sense of his scattered life.
‘Dark Matter’ has been supported by The Arts Council of England and was conceived while the founders of Vertebra were working at a Nursing Home.
"The fantastical portrayals of dementia are visually arresting. The puppet Alfi is deservedly the star of the show! A short piece of sharp physical theatre and compelling puppetry. The cast of four work well to show the hallucinations and fantastical aspects of Alfi’s mind, moving through the compelling choreography with ease.", Everything Theatre
