About Mike Evershed.
Mike is a science graduate who was lured away from science for a career in computers and finance. But he has been an amateur astronomer for over 50 years and currently organises the Reeth Informal Astronomy Group which brings together people interested in astronomy across the Northern dales. Mike has spoken at or taken telescopes to quite a few local astronomy events including Dark Skies Festival events in the winter and, when the planets have been in the correct alignment, at Swaledale Festival events in the summer. Together with other members of the group he helped collect some of the data which led to Dark Skies Reserve status for the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
