Join us for our first Dark Skies event at the Bale House Visitor Centre in Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve.
18:00- Light Pollution workshop, learn about how light pollution can affect local wildlife with Sam Nicholas from the High Weald National Landscape Partnership.
19:00-20:00- A space talk with Doug Edworthy. Doug has had a passion for astronomy since 1957 when he first heard Sputnik's beeps on the radio. He is interested in astro-photography, binocular astronomy, and sharing his hobby with other people.
Doug is a STEM Ambassador and loves outreach with adults and children. He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a member of many local amateur astronomical societies
20:00-20:45- A night-time walk on the Firehills using red torches, which preserve night vision and are wildlife friendly.
Throughout the event, local groups Fairlight Atronomers & Sussex Sidewalk Astronomers will have their stargazing equipment set up, you will be able to look through their telescopes to view the wonderous night sky.
Please note a children's Space Themed craft activity will take place between 10:00-12:00 at the Bale House on this date (02/11/2025). Booking for this activity will be on a separate event page.
