Monday 10 October 6pm - 9pm
New Zealand Portrait Gallery 11 Customhouse Quay, Wellington
“What feminine part of yourself did you have to destroy in order to survive in this world? At what point does femininity become synonymous with apology? Who hurt the people who hurt you? Darkmatter's Alok Vaid-Menon is trying to figure it out.”
Alok Vaid-Menon is an internationally acclaimed nonbinary writer, educator, performance artist and public speaker, based in New York City. Join us for an evening of readings, video, sound and performance as Alok performs alongside local artists and writers, who will be revealed over the coming weeks!
Please note, we are asking for a small koha donation on the door to fundraise for InsideOUT, an incredible organisation who work to make Aotearoa a safe(r) place for young people of diverse genders and sexualities.
This event is part of a series of pop up exhibtions taking place during 28 September - 16 October, organised by JPEG2000 and Kollektiv Gallery as part of the Lokal Stories residency and Cyber Nectar project.
