Course Description

"Darling Daughters is really worthwhile – GO if you get the chance." Justine Roberts, Co-Founder of Mumsnet

Having a daughter is wonderful – most of the time. From the moment her presence is felt, parents want to know how to raise her and wonder who she’ll become.

Mums, Dads, family and friends are all needed to help her grow up happy and safe.

But how do we help our daughters to feel confident, resilient, fulfilled in love and work, and well equipped to be mothers when the time comes?

Over the course of an evening, Parent Coach Judy Reith, offers her expert advice and insight into how to raise your daughrers into fabulous women and mothers.

Who is the course aimed at?

Anyone raising a daughter from conception to leaving home

What will the event explore?

- Your daughter’s life stages and what she needs from Mum and Dad

- Five scary things she’ll encounter, and what to do about them

- What daughters need their Dads to do

- How to be her Mother

Judy Reith is a Parent Coach, author, broadcaster and speaker, not to mention being a working Mum of 3 daughters. Judy works with every kind of parent to enable them to be more of the parent they want their children to have. Raising kids today is a bewildering and stressful challenge for most families and asking for help is something parents are reluctant to do. However, parents who do find the kind of support that’s right for them feel so much more confident. Judy trained in 1998 to deliver courses and coaching that supports parents by every kind of parenting issue. She regularly comments in national and local radio, TV and print media as a parenting spokesperson. She is the author of Be A Great Mum (Hodder 2010) which covers the main aspects of motherhood using case studies and encouraging the reader to work out how they want to raise their family (rather than an expert telling them what to do) As a working parent, she understands fully the needs of today’s parents and her passion is to support parents to be the best Mum or Dad they can.

Mumsnet Academy

So what is this Academy thing?

We're very excited to be launching The Mumsnet Academy - a brand new enterprise which aims to curate a portfolio of fantastic courses to fit around family commitments and busy working lives.

A while back we asked you what courses you would like and the programme of masterclasses, workshops, and events we've come up with is a reflection of your  responses.

To help us deliver the programme we have enlisted some fabulous experts in a range of fields as well as teaming up with some great partners who have a reputation for delivering high-quality, life-changing courses.

This collaborative approach allows us to offer a programme across a range of different subjects including entrepreneurship, business, technology, social media, blogging, history of art, creative writing, publishing, gardening, philosophy, finance, fashion as well as courses concerned with self-improvement and the concept of learning to live wisely and well. Some of these courses will be skill-based, while others will explore concepts, theory and ideas.

If we've missed something you think is a must, fear not, we will be adding classes to our portfolio all the time so please drop us a line or complete the suggestion box on our website.

One of the things that we felt was important was to ensure our Academy courses are available across the UK and we are pleased to announce that we will be running events in Birmingham, Edinburgh, London and Manchester from day one. We are also keen to develop some online courses and hope to announce the first of these later this year.

While our courses are scheduled at times which are more convenient for those with young children, they are absolutely open to everyone. Ultimately, the overall aim of the Mumsnet Academy is to bring people together in a thought-provoking and fulfilling environment where there is a universal willingness to explore ideas, develop skills, and learn from experts as well from each other.
