Join experienced and local guides Colin and Heather Ridgers for a day's walk at an easy pace to Princetown for lunch and return. Colin and Heather will ensure you have a great day as they will explain the wide and various scenery that we will be passing.
We will walk across the open moors along the Meavy Valley passing tinners' remains and blowing houses as well as prehistoric stone rows up to Hart Tor on our way to lunch* in one of the cafes or pubs in the villages where the Dartmoor Prison is located. After lunch our return journey will take us along the former tramway and railway line with far reaching views in fine weather west towards Cornwall, returning to our cars for about 3.30/4pm.
The walk is approx. 6 miles and the terrain is fairly even and there are also a few rivers to cross.
We will meet in the car park on the B3212 road from Yelverton to Princetown. From Yelverton travel towards Princetown and up onto the moors over the cattlegrid. Carry on and over the brow of the hill and when you go down the long slope on the way to Princetown the two car parks are on the left hand side. We meet in the first one on the left Grid Ref SX 561 708
We will postpone or delay the event to suit most people but that the walk will go ahead if the weather is inclement and that Colin, your guide, is able to provide an alternative to avoid anyone having a miserable time.
This is a fantastic day out at a wonderful price with 2 experienced guides.
