Shroud bearers are invited to join us for an intimate ceremony within the sacred landscape of Dartmoor.
We will come together to connect with the concepts of extinction, biodiversity loss, renewal and hope through procession, silence and music.
We will gather for a walk and mindful ritual to a very special secret location. Here we will consider grief, Dartmoor in times of flux, and the passing over of the seasons as the natural world starts to begin its journey into autumn. This will include a short procession, collective silence, and a ceremony to honour the Dartmoor Shroud and our relationships to the land.
We will consider how we can gather hope for the collective future of these moorlands, its species, and the symbiotic relationship between the human and non-human.
By doing this, we hope to ackowldge the needs of the land without looking away and commit to a future where many groups and individuals can work together to support Dartmoor in becoming healthier and more resilient.
Co-curated by Kirsteen McNish, artists Yuli Somme & Carolyn Hillyer, Kristy Turner, (Museum of Dartmoor Life), and Helen Bruce, (Dartmoor Preservation Association)
