A brief note about the festival:Dassehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is celebrated grandly in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It marks the victory of good over evil, symbolizing Lord Rama’s triumph over Ravana and Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura. People perform special pujas, visit temples, and exchange jammi leaves as a sign of prosperity. In Telangana, Bathukamma coincides with Dassehra, while in Andhra Pradesh, cultural programs, processions, and fairs make the festival vibrant.
Bathukamma is a vibrant floral festival celebrated predominantly in Telangana, India. Women arrange seasonal flowers in a unique conical shape and worship Goddess Gauri, symbolizing prosperity and well-being. It usually takes place during the Navaratri season, marking the beauty of nature and the importance of water, flowers, and cultural unity. Women sing folk songs, dance around the Bathukamma, and immerse it in water on the final day as a mark of gratitude to Mother Earth.
