Event description

Description

BCL Legal and Addleshaw Goddard invite you to their first event of 2019 at Addleshaw Goddard's offices in Manchester.

Breaches affecting personal data are commonplace. Strengthened regulatory requirements following the General Data Protection Regulation coming into force around reporting data breaches have placed businesses under significant pressure. This is coupled with increased press coverage and public scrutiny of data handling practices.

Ross McKenzie, a Partner in Addleshaw Goddard's Data Protection team, will draw upon his experience since the GDPR came into force and share his insights on the latest in data protection law and cyber security. He will examine:

  • Where we are with the ever more complicated data privacy framework in the UK;
  • The steps that should be taken if you suffer a data breach;
  • Which data breaches are reportable and how to go about it;
  • Unintended consequences of data breaches – what to look out for after a breach has happened; and
  • How to minimise data breaches.

Ross will also look at regulatory enforcement action taken by the ICO in the UK.

There will also be an opportunity to ask our Data Team any questions you may have.
