Event description

Description

Data Carpentry, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and King's College London, is coming to Guy's Campus! This is a hands-on workshop that will teach students how to handle big datasets employing R. Some prior knowledge of R may be advantageous but it is not a requirement. We will cover the basics of R and students will learn how to handle big datasets that are usually supplied as large tables of data. This course is aimed at PhD students, postdocs and PIs with a keen interest in big datasets (sequencing and arrays). By the end of this workshop you will be able to combine, refine, edit, merge and visualize large datasets.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: As places are limited, please fill in the following form so that you get into the shorlisting list:

We will try to accommodate as many participants as possible, but if we have to restrict places we will try and select at least one person per lab.

The course fee is £35 for both days. We are advertising it for free here- there will be a week to make the payment when shortlisted participants receive a confirmatory email to attend at the beginning of February.

Please do register as we will bring this course (and potentially other courses) to King's College London on a regular basis if we get many applicants!

Participants will need to bring their own laptops- nothing fancy is needed. Windows, Mac or Linux are all fine.

Looking forward to seeing you,

Rocio, Alessandra, Hugo, Krzysztof and Gabriella
