Description

Overview

Data Management Plans (DMPs) are now a necessary part of most research, but they have benefits beyond complying with regulations or the terms and conditions of funders.

This session, aimed specifically at research students, will look at what constitutes data, who now requires DMPs, and why they are asking for them.

Aims and objectives

The aims of this session are:

  • To look at how you would go about creating a DMP for yourself, with reference to examples

  • To discuss advice and requirements from funders and other bodies

  • We will also walk through the sign-up process for DMPonline (an online tool that makes creating and sharing DMPs easier) and will create a DMP that you can use.

Who is this event for?

  • This event has been designed specifically for postgraduate research students and will be useful to PhD researchers from all disciplines.

  • Attendance is especially recommended for postgraduate researchers embarking on a research project, or those whose current project deals with data.

Session leads

The session will be led by:

  • David McElroy (Birkbeck Research Data Support Manager)
