Overview

The SADiLaR Data Management for Humanities and Social Sciences Workshop, in collaboration with Unisa’s Department of Library and Information Services, is a two-day workshop envisioned to raise awareness and stimulate conversations about data management. In the workshop, that will include ample opportunities for participants to engage with each other, there will be facilitation to flesh out various topics related to research data management.

As part of the ESCALATOR programme, specifically the Enabler Track, the aim of the workshop is to foster a community that engage on the challenges and opportunities when it comes to the effective management of research data in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Target audience

This workshop is ideal for a range of people interested in the management of research data. People who would definitely benefit from participating include the following:

Researchers and other academic staff, including lecturers
People working in information services, archiving and research support
Students

The main outcome of the workshop is to create awareness of principles informing effective data management. The workshop will also be successful if participants have a newfound appreciation for the management of research data.

What the workshop will cover

Aspects that will be covered will include looking for data, digitisation, what the FAIR principles are and so much more!

The structure of each day will include discussions and practical sessions.

Additional information

Participation in the workshop is FREE. However, a no-show fee will be applied for non-attendance.
Accommodation and transport for participants’ own account.
Participants are expected to bring their own laptops for the afternoon sessions; wifi access will be provided.
A light lunch and tea breaks will be provided on the workshop days.
Space is limited to the first 65 participants that register.
This event can only be attended in-person.
