The session will examine how compliance and accountability intersect with the need for technological advancement and what that means for organisations working in data driven industries.
Meet our Speaker: Sharon Xuereb
Sharon is a Senior Associate at Camilleri Preziosi, specialising in privacy and data protection, intellectual property, and technology law. With a strong passion for IT and emerging technologies, she is particularly interested in how disruptive innovations are reshaping legal landscapes both locally and internationally.
She previously served as Vice President and EU Projects Manager at the Malta IT Law Association, and has contributed to EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation projects focused on developing ethical and trustworthy AI technologies, and privacy-friendly software to counter radicalisation and crime. In these projects, she provided legal guidance on GDPR and other non-personal data law, EU AI Act, and intellectual property law compliance.
Sharon has co-authored several publications and is regularly invited to speak at conferences, where she participates in discussions on digital regulation, compliance challenges, and business opportunities in the areas of intellectual property, consumer law, and data processing.
