Be Prepared: Major changes to the Data Protection Act are on the horizon!
In just over a year, any personal data that you collect, process and retain will be subject to new legislation. The General Data Protection Regulation 2016 will place greater compliance obligations on businesses and give individuals more rights. But more importantly, if you fail to comply you could be liable for fines of up to the greater of €20m or 4% of your company’s global turnover!
Think this will not apply to your business? – it will. Think you don’t need to worry about it now? – you do.
For example: if you
- keep personal data about customers and potential customers
- have a website that collects personal data (eg via an enquiry form or subscribing to newsletters)
- have companies based outside the EU that offer services to people in the EU
- act as a data processor
Changes coming under the GDPR will affect how you collect, process and retain personal data. The aim of this free seminar is to give you a practical view of the fundamentals of the GDPR which are due to be adopted on 25 May 2018.
