Guest Speaker Announced!
We are delighted to announce our guest speaker, Fundraising Regulator Chief Executive- Stephen Dunmore
Stephen was appointed as Chief Executive of the Fundraising Regulator in December 2015. He was previously Chief Executive of the New Opportunities Fund and the Big Lottery Fund.
Come and hear the latest from the Fundraising Regulator.
The need to restore public trust in the handling of personal information is critical, whether you use personal information to generate income or deliver services.
The ICO is clear: regardless of Brexit, there is an urgent need for new data protection law in the UK…and the best preparation is compliance with current best practice and existing laws.
Recent enforcement action points to how the ICO is interpreting the current laws with an eye on the future. The Charity Commission has outlined Trustee obligations, and the Fundraising Regulator is soon to issue guidance.
It is time to take action: to maximise your use of your personal information (so you can continue delivering for your beneficiaries), provide assurance over your management of data protection risk and prepare for 2018.
How can you meet the rising expectations of donors, service users, regulators and the wider public?
Join us on 20th October to find out – as we focus on how to prepare for the coming changes.
Who should attend?
The seminar is open to anyone with responsibility for data protection: Trustees, CEOs, Heads of Fundraising / IT / Compliance / Finance.
Why change is coming (regardless of Brexit) – And what it will look like.
We will look at recent enforcement cases and Codes of Practice to outline how the ICO is interpreting the current laws with an eye on the GDPR – and what this is likely to mean for future changes in the UK law.
Information security – Did you bring your own device today?
How do you enable working outside the office (which might be essential, or otherwise part of your flexible working arrangements); ensure cost-effective solutions (which might mean staff and volunteers using their own devices for work purposes) whilst at the same time continuing to meet your responsibilities for personal information (by applying appropriate security)? We will look at how you square the circle.
Opt-in, opt-out…it’s shaking it all about – Current hot topics for fundraisers
We will look at what the future holds for “opt-in” and “opt-out,” whether you will need to seek “new” consent...and when you do not need consent. We will also look at why clarity of purpose is so essential – both now and in the future.
Who is your greatest risk: suppliers, staff or volunteers? Governance, and how to deliver it
We will look at where responsibilities for data protection falls between the employer, employee and suppliers…and how you can ensure the right processes, policies and evidence are in place to protect your interests.
