About this session

Do you need to demonstrate the need for your work to funders? Or find the data that can help shape your services and target people who may benefit from them the most?

Join this practical fun session where we will explore the key local open data sources including Kingston Data, public health data create a custom data set using the ONS Census tool.

We will first demo how to use the Office for National Statistics (ONS) 'create a custom dataset' tool and then support you as you create and download your own. This might include e.g. age, ethnic group and / or language spoken alongside health, disability or hours of unpaid care. You might alternatively be interested in housing, education or employment data alongside specific demographics, and focussing on London, a specific borough or smaller geography. The choice is yours! We will then show you how to analyse your downloaded Excel spreadsheet - creating a simple pivot table and chart to visualise the data and answer the questions you may have been exploring, with time for you to do this yourselves with the Superhighway team on hand to help. Find out more about the Census 2021 on the Office for National Statistics website at https://www.ons.gov.uk/census
