DAUGHTERS OF IGBO WOMAN: MEMORIAL CELEBRATION

26th August 2017 Greenbank Cemetery Chapel 3:30pm - 4.30pm


A LIVE MEMORIAL TRIBUTE.

To FANNY COKER 1767-1820

The African maidservant of the Georgian House, Bristol. Enslaved on Mountravers plantation on the Caribbean Island of Nevis. Born this day 250 yr ago, her final remains rest in Greenbank Cemetery.


Please join with us in commemorating Frances (Funnanya) Coker and her family who survived the middle passage from Africa, enslavement in the Caribbean and worked for the Pinney’s in Bristol.


REFLECTION, MUSIC, DANCE & SONG in MEMORIAL

Led by Artists: Ros Martin, Cleo Alberto Lake, Alphonse Daudet Touna, Nia Bimkubwa

A performance of music and dance commencing @ the disused Greenbank Chapel & finishing at the Baptist memorial stone where candles will be lit, flowers laid and Ros Martin will read a letter to remember our mothers who came before.
