In less than ten days, President Obama will take on Mitt Romney in the first of three Presidential debates. They'll debate the issues, the policies, and the hard reality of leading our country in difficult times. These are shaping up to be the debates of a generation. Romney secured the Republican nomination based in part on his success in the primary debates and he has been preparing to face Obama for months. The contrast couldn't be more stark; the issues couldn't be more important.
Join us on October 4 for a London screening of the first debate, which will focus on domestic policy. As the 2008 Debate screenings demonstrated, watching the debates in the company of your fellow Democrats is an unmissable experience. We'll cheer on Obama, boo Romney, and make up our own minds about how it went. A moderated discussion will follow the debate screening.
With Jim Lehrer (Host of PBS' "NewsHour") moderating, the first debate's focus will be domestic policy and will be divided into six segments of about 15 minutes each. The moderator will open each segment with a question, followed by each candidate's response of 2 minutes.
Book early, as we expect this event to sell out fast!
Come early and have a drink in the ISH bar or stay afterwards to discuss the debates with fellow Democrats.
Drop by our new Democrats Abroad Campaign Office in the same building. The Campaign Office is open Monday-Friday from 12-9pm, and Saturday-Sunday from 12-5pm. Come and volunteer – we need your help! Join us in our efforts to get out the vote in this election.
You can register to vote at www.votefromabroad.org or register on the night of the event.
Please note that DAUK will be screening all four debates. See dauk.eventbrite.co.uk for the other event listings.
