Event description

Description

In association with Mountain Equipment and GORE-TEX we are delighted to welcome author, ice climber and climber Dave Macleod back to Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports this February to share his expertise and experiences.

Dave MacLeod is a Scottish rock climber. In April 2006, he established the climb Rhapsody on Dumbarton Rock which, at a grade of E11 7a, was possibly the hardest traditional climbing route in the world.

Ice Age Talk
Dave will speak about his background in all-round Scottish mountaineering, reading about and repeating the famous ice lines from Jimmy Marshall and Robin Smith from the 1960s, the harder mixed routes from the 80s and 90s and adding his own modern steep mixed and ice routes to places such as Ben Nevis with ascents such as Anubis XI, 12, and Echo Wall E11. He found that in learning from these legends of ice climbing by speaking to them and climbing their routes, that not much separates them with climbers of the modern era in terms of inspiration, determination and technique.
