PRONI are pleased to announce that Paul Ferguson and Dr Joseph Brady will speak online at the David Chart Annual Map Seminar, Tuesday 21st October, 7-8pm, on aspects of their recent study, ‘Ireland: Mapping the Island’.

This magnificent book highlights a vast selection of maps that range across the centuries and cover every part of the island. Themes include conquest and colonisation, the management of the landscape, natural resources, transport, the growth of urban centres as well as exploring how outsiders saw Ireland.

The talk will focus on the process of finding and selecting choice maps for the book with special attention to the mapping of Ulster over the centuries. It will also discuss the exciting exhibition currently in the Long Room, Trinity College, Dublin.

Paul Ferguson is Map Librarian at the Glucksman Map Library, Trinity College Library Dublin, and Dr Joseph Brady is adjunct associate professor of Geography, University College Dublin.
